American Climate Alliance Development Schedule
The three-year development schedule for the American Climate Alliance:
2008: The Foundation For the Future established the American Climate Alliance in September, 2008. The ACA is in the process of inviting scientists and senior representatives of “climate” organizations, institutions, corporations, and government departments to participate in an ACA Planning Committee. During the remainder of 2008 the ACA plans to establish an organization web site, publish a brochure on its purposes and goals, produce an ACA video, convene the initial meetings of the Organizing Committee and create a preliminary Action Plan.
2009: During the first half of 2009, the American Climate Alliance will convene an ACA self-organizing meeting, which will elect members to an Executive Committee; convene a series of Executive Committee planning meetings; develop short-, medium-, and longer-term Action Plans; develop ACA schedules and budgets; develop and begin to implement an ACA Public Relations Plan; identify lobby groups within constituent organizations; begin to brief congressional staffs; and begin to brief US senators and congressmen and -women. During the second half of 2009 the ACA will further the implementation of its Action Plans and ramp up its national Public Relations Plan.
2010: During 2010, the American Climate Alliance will continue to convene meetings of its Executive Committee; continue to brief congressional staffs, senators, and congressmen and –women; and lobby Congress for legislation that would create a national agency to manage the climate problem. The ACA will assist in the drafting of legislation that will create the National Climate Administration and outline the goals and responsibilities of that organization.
2011: During 2011, the American Climate Alliance will continue the activities begun in 2010; increase public awareness of the climate impact issue; convene meetings of the ACA Executive Committee; brief senators, congressmen and –women, and their staffs; and continue to support the establishment of a national agency to manage the climate problem.
